Apart from their 24 hour telephone counselling service, many Lifelines such as Hunter provide a range of face to face counselling programs. These services are typical, in their professionalism and responsiveness, of the many other UnitingCare Counselling Services provided through local programs and major UnitingCare agencies such as UnitingCare Unifam Counselling and Mediation and Wesley Mission.
Specialist services include Family Counselling, Mediation and Men's Matters provided by UnitingCare Unifam Counselling and Mediation, Credit Line Financial Counselling and Gambling Counselling provided through Wesley Mission through to the Tenants Advice and Advocacy Program provided by WESTS — Western Sydney Tenants Advice Service.
UnitingCare Counselling Services assist people during periods of crisis and interpersonal and family relationship difficulties. They support people struggling with mental illness or addictions, enabling those assisted to deal more confidently with the issue at hand, as well as learning new and more constructive coping behaviours. Services build on the inherent strengths of the individual, encouraging them to develop new skills and a greater belief in their own capacity to manage their own lives and their relationships with those they love.
